“I never saw a discontented tree.” – John Muir.

John Muir over the course of his life compiled a pretty extensive resume. Naturalist, author, environmental activist and philosopher, glaciologist and one of the early advocates of the preservation of the wilderness of the United States and co-founder of the Sierra Club.

A quick search on Google will reveal literally hundreds of quotes attributed to him over the course of his life.

But, it comes down to just one simple quote. One reason that summarizes why mental health and emotional coping issues can be lessened to some degree from spending time outdoors in nature.

“I never saw a discontented tree.” – John Muir.

Science has shown; proven that contact with nature lowers blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, helps prevent disease, and reduce stress levels.

Perhaps he was on to something?
